Does SFC still work correctly after installing SP2

Can anyone tell me if System File Checker reverts the files back to the
original XP Home after loading and implementing Service Pack 2. I've noticed
that it loads a few files from the install CD and wonder if I'm doing the
right thing running this after SP2.

SFC in Windows will look in Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 for updated files.
The CD is only required for core files that have not been changed by subsequent
Service Pack updates.
