Does Vista explorer.exe crash as much in 32 bit as 64 bit?

I am still evaluating whether to keep the new install of the Vista 64 bit
version or use the 32 bit. Explorer.exe seems to crash several times a day
and I have never seen that before. Does it work that way in the 32 bit? I
don't remember that happening during the Beta.

Thanks,
Clark

What's the specific fault data for the crash according to "View Problem
History" in the Problem Reports and Solutions control panel?

I use 64 bit Vista Ultimate with SP1. Explorer has never crashed on my
machine.

I am presently testing a 32 it install so I don't currently have that
information, but it seems it was a error 1000 Application Explorer.exe. For
me it happened quite a bit when I clicked on the start button. I will test
this 32 bit install for a few days to see if it does the same thing. There
were also a lot of WMI errors shown. The number of errors seem to decrease
the longer I had the install working, but it still crashed, which I have
never seen before.

I was using all the latest 64 bit drivers for the new computer install I
could find, but of course I might have missed something. I never saw
explorer.exe crash in the beta, but I was using a different machine and not
the 64 bit.

And so we are on the same page, when I say crash I mean I get a notice
explorer.exe needs to shutdown and a message to either just restart or
restart and check for a solution.

From what I am seeing, the x86 version has more trouble then the x64

x64 is rock solid while sometimes I feel like holding my breath wit
the x86

You must have a driver issue yet unresolved to have any IE crashes i
x64

A driver issue is one thing I am going to check, as best I can. By tomorrow
night, I should have a better idea about how stable the 32 bit is, then I
will start updating the drivers to see if one starts the explorer problem.
Currently I am waiting to install the Intel LAN drivers and the Nvidia
GeForce drivers. Neither Chipset or audio drivers have caused the problem
in the 32 bit.

Microsoft should never have named the two as Explorer and Internet Explorer.
It does cause confusion.

It's the same basic metaphor, to use a marketing phrase. You're exploring
your computer, you're exploring the internet. I think they were looking
into Web-browsie-thingie(TM), but that name I believe was taken. =\
