Does WSUS 3 SP1 Client Reboot?

Hello all,

I am gearing up to in-place upgrade our WSUS 2 SP1 server to WSUS 3 SP1. I
understand that a newer WSUS client will get automatically deployed to
support the new server. Does installation of this new client require a
reboot or is it completely transparent?

TIA,

- SB

The WSUS 3 client, at this point, should have already been installed to the
WSUS2 server and deployed via selfupdate last summer, to alleviate several
known issues with the WSUS 2 client.

However, WSUS 3 SP1 also has an updated client which will trigger another
selfupdate once the SP installation is completed.

Generally the WUA selfupdate does *not* require a reboot.

HOWEVER... the newly updated WUA will trigger another detection, and if
there are approved updates, those updates may trigger a reboot, making it
appear that the WUA caused the reboot when it was merely the normal update
process.
