I thought I had configured my liive messenger so as to NOT keep a history of
my conversations (tools -> options -> messages -> message history ->
unchecked *automatically keepp a history of my conversations*) but they are
still being recorded. Can someone help me resolve this problem?

Greetings,

Recording to what exactly? If you turn the feature off, they will no longer save (although
you'll need to delete the existing ones that are there -- you can find the folder name in
that same dialog).

Additionally, if you have some third-party software (like Messenger Plus! Live) installed, it
also may be saving your conversations and you'll have to turn off its own logging feature.
Although these will be separate from the Messenger ones.

Hi,

I've got the opposite question to warmingupfast's. I want to turn on
default keeping of conversations, but can't find where to do it. I've seen
references to Tools/Options/Messages, but my options dialog doesn't contain a
Messages tab. I'm running version 4.7.3001 of Windows Messenger.

How can I keep an archive of conversations by default?

Thanks!

Hi,

Windows Messenger doesn't have this feature. You'll need to install the latest Windows Live
Messenger for this.

If you really want to stick with Windows Messenger, an old version of Messenger Plus will do
logging for you:
