Last week I downloaded & installed a new (latest) updated version of NVIDIA
driver. This week Windows Updates / Custom has tried very hard to make me
install another version of NVIDIA that is very old. I have clicked on 'don't
install' but I now want the notification to go away. How do I do that?

Hi there
Go to the windows update site and check for updates and choose custom
install, after scanning for updates choose the section hardware optional on
the left hand corner and unmark the nvidia update in the list and mark do
not show this update again.

However if a newer driver will be available it will show up again and you
have to repeat the above steps.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

Hello Michel, thank you for your prompt reply.
Sadly, I was not able to make it work. I went into updates, however, the
Hardware option on the left hand column had (0) in the box and did not
respond to being clicked. Thus I never did find a place to unmark the nvidia
update. Have I done something wrong? I also went into Restore hidden
updates but there was nothing there I could unmark. Do you have any other
suggestions?
Bye

Hello DML,

That indicates the the Nvidia update has been installed by windows update
you can check this in the update historie on WU, if it works fine just
leave, it if not remove it from add remove programs.

It is better to download driver updates from the manufacturers sie and not
through windows update however.

Best regards.

Hello again Michel, thanks for your reply. However, the nvidia update was
not installed by WU and is not included in the WU update history. What
happened was I updated it directly from the nvidia web site. Hence my
problem. Thus I have the newest nvidia update on my PC but WU wants to
install an older version. Until I can convcince WU I have installed a better
version I cannot use Automatic WU - hence I am trying to get rid of WU
pushing a critical nvidia update on me that I don't want/need. Can you help
me to achieve this?

Bye for now

Hello DML,

Well if it does not show up on the indows update site you can cancel the
automatic update and mark do not notify me about this update again, however
I have a feeling dispite the fact you choose to ignore it it will pop up
again

If so you will need a microsoft support technician to help you on this
matter, I do not know how to solve that unfortunately,

Best regards,
Michel Denie
