While using a library computer, I saved to a thumb drive some web pages that
displayed running videos. Then I tryed to display the web pages using the
home computer but got the message "you must have Adobe Flash Player installed
to view the website properly". So I went back to the library and downloaded
the flash player file to the thumb drive then installed Flash Player on the
home computer then went to the Internet Explorer Manage Add-ons window but
could not determine how to add flash player as an add-on. How does one add
Flash Player as an add-on?

The easiest way would be to browse to a website that contains Flash
animations, and have IE7 automatically download and install the add-on
for you. Although am I correct in guessing that you do not have internet
access at home?

But even if you did have the flash player installed at home, it
wouldn't matter. The "videos" played inside embedded flash controls will
not be included when you save the web page to your thumb drive. When you
get back home, you will not be able to play the videos, because no
internet connection will be available, therefore the embedded flash
control will not be able to load the video stream.

You will need a third-party utility to download the actual video stream
to your thumb drive. Any Video Converter has the facility to import from
YouTube, but getting it installed onto the public computers at your
library might be a little difficult.

'Overview-Any DVD Converter for iPod rip DVD movies to iPod, convert
DVD movie to iPod video format MPEG-4 (MP4), play movie on iPod.'

In addition to dzomlija's response, another option
is to use Firefox and install the Download Helper
extension:
www.downloadhelper.net

It will make download links available automatically
from places like YouTube. The you don't have to
install Flash, which is generally just used for advertising
and hard to not use once you've installed it.

In the case of YouTube you would also need a
player that deals with .flv extensions. There are at
least 2 or 3 free ones available.

With the Firefox plugin and the FLV player you'll
be all set to download and view most any online video
without needing to deal with Flash Player. (If you
still get formats that you can't play, check out
Media Player Classic, an open source alternative to
Microaoft's spyware.
