dot net 1.1 SP1

SP1 always fails to install. Cant find any useful suggestions off site.
Running on XP SP2 fully patched.

Will dot net 2 overcome problem or will apps break?

..NET 2.0 is independent of .NET 1.1. The co-exist. Installing .NET 2.0
will neither fix things borken in 1.1, nor will it break anything else.
