dotnet 1.1 update install problem

I tried to install the critical update for dotnet 1.1

It failed with error codeE0434F4D

I then looked in the windowsupdate log and copied in what I found at the
bottom.

Can anyone help me get this update installed???

I have a AMD athlon 3000+ machine with windows XP prof installed. All other
updates have been run and I have no problems with those.

Hi Patti,

Thanks but I found this fix already.

I trie it and if also launches.

But it also stops with the message that a different version (language
(pack)???) already has been installed and that it can't install without
deinstalling. Dotnet can't be uninstalled as far as I know. Moot point anyway
as it won't uninstall.....

Any other ideas?

You're welcome.

What language version of .NET Framework 1.1 do you have installed? Yes, I
did notice that the security update that failed to be installed is the Dutch
language version.

..NET can be manually removed and then reinstalled as per these instructions:

The dutch language pack. I tried evrything I know to get dotnet framework
uninstalled but it wont as it says it doesn't have the files.....

Hi Patti and Bas,

Patti, yesterday you resolved my WU problem, but my .NET Framework wont
install. I found this discussion and tried the fix that you linked. It's
not very descriptive , therefore not helpful. Bas, I noticed however you
found a solution. Will you share your success with the rest of us that are
still experienceing failures?
