Evidently I hit a key unwittingly. I have several paragraphs which appear
with dotted underlining. When I tried to print out a page, these paragraphs
did not appear.
I have tried experimenting, reading and what have you, but I can't get rid
of them.
Help!
P.S. I am sure the technicians are great and helpful so this is not
personal, but I have had Microsoft Windows (several versions)for 20 years and
this is the WORST
HELP setup I have seen. Thanks to you have helped me out of some bad spots
lately
- guess I'm stuck with Vista. I'm recently retired so will probably go to my
deathbed before I am adept in VISTA!

Hi,

Usually that happens when the document program you are using is set to show
formatting symbols. Check the settings of whatever program you are using to
disable these.

Hi Rick: I'm sure you are right but since it is difficult being new to
Vista's many location changes, I had a terrible time finding just where I
could alter this. I finally got it to print out but I still have
the-----------------------------marks underlining my text.
If you could point out the 1-2-3 steps to remove them I would appreciate it.
thanks
for your friendly help.

The dotted text shows up on screen, but not when you print, correct?

That genrally means hidden text.

- To hide hidden text, press <CTRL>+<SHIFT>+<8>. This will toggle the
display of all non-printing characters, such as spaces and paragraph
marks.
- To completly remove the hidden text attribute, select the text,
press <CTRL>+<D>, then remove the checkmark from "hidden text".See if that helps.

Hi,

If you are using the newer interface, about halfway across the header bar is
a sign that looks like this: ¶, click on it to change the formatting
behavior. Or, click the Office icon at upper left, then "word options" at
the bottom right of the dialog. Click on "display" and uncheck the line that
adds formatting marks in the central area of the options.
