Due to driver issues with 64 bit compatibility with programs like Pr
tools and other music production software, I need to change to the 3
bit version of windows vista on my Gateway Laptop. The laptop came wit
Vista x64 factory installed on it

I can't afford a completely new system, so I was wondering if there wa
anyway to downgrade to the 32-bit vista system without having to pa
$230 for a whole new Software package

Hi pauldwow, welcome to the board

Well, you can get a upgrade version which is cheaper and follow thi
instruction
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/68...rade-vista.htm

Also, you can get either copy at eBay for half of the retail price

Hope this helps

Bruc

Yours is OEM factory pre-installed.
Contact your Computer Manufacturer about getting 32bit version from them for
a cheap price.

The alternative would be setting up a dual boot of both editions simpl
shrinking down the primary for the factory preinstall as far as tha
will go and creating a second primary in the then empty drive space fo
the 32bit edition of Vista.

That leaves the original installation and information intact seeing th
64bit edition then become a choice for a second OS when starting u
until drivers become available.

For the 32bit edition however you would still have to pay for th
second software package since the original was preinstalled for th
64bit edition alone. If you wipe the 64bit edition off completely yo
are simply starting all over fresh

I just talked to Gateway, They fired me some files that should help.
Apparently, they are now shipping all computers with a backup OS Vist
disk that has BOTH the 32 and 64 - bit versions, with an option t
downgrade if you want. They just sent me that option

I'll log on later and let you know if it works

Yes there is a way. Write a letter (not email - a typed letter sent by snail
mail) and send it to:

Mr. Bill Gates
Microsoft Corporation
1 Microsoft Way
Redmond Washington 98052-6399.

I have written a letter to him in the past and received a phone response
from a Microsoft Vice President within 4 days. My issue was immediately
resolved.
