Hi,
Provided there are drivers available from the laptop manufacturer for XP
(some do not have these, you have to check first), removing Vista and
installing XP is fairly simple. All you need do is boot with the XP CD and
start setup. At the point where you choose the installation location, remove
the volume that contains Vista, then create a new one from the resulting
free space. Format it (quick is fine) and proceed. One thing to keep in mind
is that if the drive is sata, you may need to load a driver via floppy (XP
setup cannot load one from any other type of device as Vista can). If the
system doesn't have one - not uncommon in laptops - you will need to see if
it supports a USB floppy device as a bootable item.
Many manufacturers will supply a laptop without an OS installed if you ask,
you'll just need to obtain your own copy of XP.
