I recently purchased a Sony Vaio, pre-installed with Vista Business. I
could not believe it when the following things started happening:

1) Blue screens all the time with memory management and PFN list problems
2) Intermittent failure to be able to login to my profile, access denied.
3) Incredibly CPU and hard disk intensive. Lots of HD activity when I was
doing nothing.
4) Not a great deal of support for those 3rd party apps that make our lives
easier.
5) Incredible usability failures with Windows Live Mail versus Outlook
Express. (Especially when formatting emails, indenting, changing font) and
the height of the sender/subject info in the preview pane.
6) Host processes, content indexer and IE 7 always crashing
7) 90% of the time I power down an installation of an update (or several)
had to be performed. (Just what you need at 5.30 on a Friday afternoon)
8) Slightly off topic, but Office 2007, what the heck are those menus/panels
about!

So, I visited the Sony website and there are detailed instructions on
downgrading (re-installing) to XP and simple set-up of all the preinstalled
software and drivers.

You are probably aware but users of most Vista versions except the most
basic are entitled to downgrade.

My PC runs XP Pro twice as fast as Vista and is far more stable.

Vista, get rid.

Congratulations? So you couldn't figure out how to use Vista. Your not the
first, wont be the last. So this just shows you would rather quit than
work with it. That's fine. Plenty of us have been ale to work with it.

Have a good day and thank you for coming.

You are dumb.. but seeing that MVP after your name only makes me nod with
understanding..
most MVPs are dumb after all..! And boy, you are no exception! On the
contrary, you verify this conclusion!

Windows is an OS that has a target group that includes the masses, or in
other words
most its users will not know much or anything about computers. Bill Gates
says that he wants everyone, even people that are in 3rd world countires to
use computers.

Therefore, like XP, Vista should have been very easy to use, clear, user
friendly,
with most featured well organized and displayed...

VISTA IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE

its NOT easy for the non computer geek
its NOT clear
Its NOT user friendly
and the Features are either HIDDEN or PERVERTED and MISPLACED!

In fact every peice of evidence shows that VISTA IS THE WORST DESIGNED
MODERN OS!

Congrats, you just won a spot in the long list of Vista Fanboys and
Propaganda spreaders..
Scumbag! Why Scumbag? Because you have the DARN ARROGANCE to put down the OP
that is totally correct!

IDIOT

[rest of rant deleted]

Oh,its a Sony, lets see now, this was the Japanese mob
that downloaded a secret file onto unsuspecting windows
XP computers to prevent copying and opened up a big
security hole which microsoft had to rush out a patch.

You have a dud notebook, take it back to the dealer.

>Vista, get rid.

Nope, works fine on other notebooks.

Well, whatever works best for you. Hopefully in the future the situation
will improve for you and will be use Windows Vista again. I don't believe in
using the latest and greatest over lost productivity.

On the other hand, you are too stupid to know if there are any Windows
Updates available needless to say to put an unfinished SP1 on a production
system, you of course know nothing better than MS customers.

Of course, you are not the first stupid self-centered techie and wouldn't be
the last one, but certainly is the newest to this newsgroup.

mate u will regret that decision in a years time XP IS DYING A DEATH
its still early days but most people here love this OS and have no real
issues with it ...but by the sound of it your notebook wernt up to the
task anyway
i cant belive they pre installed vista buisness on a notebook im sure
that edition is the most harware intensive (could be wrong)
it upsets me u have bailed ship but as u say if XP is running twice as
fast
then the laptop was ur problem tbf i think XP actually runs slower on
my current rig so as with most probs it comes down to your hardware

you will be back

vista x64 is the future !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(1) I have never skipped any MS Windows upgrade for personal and business
until Vista,

(2) I have shared reasons last year for not using it but am still monitoring
the progress and have not commented anything on it in this or other
newsgroups,

(3) My reply was not about if Vista is a good or not (leave that to techie
like yourself) but with regard to Alex's attitude,

(4) I am not a fortune teller even I study trends but maybe that's your
profession,

(5) I don't know how you and your organization use IT in general, but we
don't just boot up a computer and log in to write a few emails and edit some
photos; we have multinational real-time supply chain operations including
production and order fulfilling need to be consider.

Conclusion: I am happy for you and others who are using Vista without
problems and any other OS for the matter, but that's just for your use.

vista is already history for Microsoft.. they know they blundered and are
working full speed to make an OS that actually WORKS... of course they will
still sell Vista and XP until its ready
They wont say no to money... but MS knows that they did a big boo boo with
Vista...

and they are licking their wounds... many hate it .. many avoid it like the
plauge.. and with GOOD reason. its crap

Sorry vista is never faster than xp on any hardware.. the mere fact that you
are saying that shows you are newbie supreme
