DOWNLADS: Windows Update

I recently bought a new computer (Dell XPS 400) with Windows XP (Media
Center). I need to download a critical update for Office 2003. However I
use dial-up and, according to Microsoft, this critcal update will take 9
hours!!! (Two days ago it was only 5 hours). Is there another way to get
critical updates of this magnitude short of a 9 hour download?
If not, how can I be sure the 'puter won't 'go to sleep' (well I would!) and
my ISP won't time out due to no activity?
Thanks in advance.

Option 1 if you live in US or Canada
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX010383631033.aspx

Option 2 - get a friend with a fast internet connection to download it for
you burn to CD.

Thank you very much! For some reason I didn't think about the CD idea.
