Hello,

Would anyone know if Microsoft maintains a web page listing ALL KB updates
where I might download all the ones I need.

We have a computer at work (on dial-up) that hasn't been used in ~1-1/2
years so I'm sure there are many updates to get. I have broadband at home.

I believe the last time I went through this Is searched for each update to
get them all.

Thanks for any help!

Richard in VA.

One site has a decently updated list:
http://www.msfn.org/board/HOTFIXES_W...00_t86450.html
Scroll down tothe part labeled:
"MS WINDOWS XP PRO SP2 - (##)"

You can order Windows XP Service Pack 2 on CD
http://snipurl.com/d41v

There are tools out there that can be used to get what you will need...
Example:
http://wud.jcarle.com/

Each month Microsoft releases that month's updates in ISO format - but they
*do not* go back as far as you might need.
January 2006-current
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913086

That would be one CD per month since January 2006.

http://snipurl.com/8bqy

You can see the critical (security and other) patches released for a given
month using the following:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms##-***.mspx

At the end of this line you see "ms##-***.mspx" .. If you simply replace ##
with the two-digit year and the *** with the three character month
abbreviation, you will see the list of "critical" and "important" patches
for that month (since it only happens once a month usually, if you check by
the second Tuesday (wait until afternoon) of each month - you should be
fine) - note that future months will not work.

As an example...

December 2004's patches..
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms04-dec.mspx

March 2005's patches..
None released.. so that one will fail...

May 2006's patches..
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms06-may.mspx

January 2007's patches..
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms07-jan.mspx

Once you get on the page with each month's list of patches.. You can go to
the related KB articles and grab the appropriate files from there.

Here's a list through about April of this year - choose to go
to the IT Professional link if given the option.

Hello Shenan,

The 1st link you provided, msfn.org looks promising, a few questions tho...

A short while back, I ran MS update on the computer requiring the updates
and wrote down the kb#'s needed without updating anything. ~30 updates at
the time, probably 40-50 by now.

(1) I notice the file sizes differ somewhat. Should I assume this is a
non-issue?
(2) Should I be careful with respect to the order in which I install these?

Maybe if I group the install(s) according to calendar month of update
release. Then booting before proceeding with the next months group of
updates. Or is this being overly cautious?

Thanks for the help!

btw, your pretty quick at the draw today.... not bad for "hump-day" !!

Best regards,

Richard in VA.
