download of live messenger stuck on 99%

hey,
Now this is the problem i'm encountering:
i installed the Windows live installer. then i launch it. Then it asks me
the items i want to download , i select sign-in assistant, messenger , etc
and click install.
Now when it starts to download the messenger it downloads very quickly
uptill 99% and then it get's stuck on that. i even tried waitin for an hour
and it didn't download that 1%.
every other item get's download ( if selected before messenger) but when it
comes to messenger it get's stuck onn 99%.
I'm using windows xp. I've tried uninstalling the Windows Live installer and
reinstalling it, i've tried upgrading through earlier version of the
messenger (as it gives me the option of upgrading when i try to sign in) but
that doesn't work either.

Please, help me fix this problem. I am messenger-less since 3 weeks!

Try downloading it from Jonathan's site (reliable site and download. He's a
Messenger MVP).

This gives you the MSI file for messenger directly rather than trying to use
the installer program provided by Microsoft.
