How to download only mail header

WLM V2009, B. 14.0.8089.0726, german version. Win XP pro, SP3.

In Outlook Express there was the possibility to download only the
headerlines from a pop-server (Tools > Email-Rules). In Windows Live Mail
there is a similar rule, but without the option to download only the header
lines in case the mail exceeds e. g. 100 kB. Either it WLM loads it down or
not depending on the selected mail size. The disadvantage is: if I get
larger emails e. g. with attachments, I have no information about this.

Is there a possibility to configure header-downloads only?

Gerhard

You may want to try this :

Right click on the newsgroup, choose sync. parameters and
check " Headings only ".

Sorry, I have the problem with _Emails_, not with Newsgroups-Messages!

You can configure header only downloads with an IMAP mail server. Is that an
option for you?

Pop3 accounts do not have the ability for downloading headers via a rule in WLM.

There is no such option in Outlook Express. Nor is there such an option
in WLM.

POP3 messages are all or nothing.

Possibly you were thinking of some other mail program.

Tank you!

Is there a way to request this feature that was already implemented in the
(old) OE for WLM? I thought, WLM is an advanced programm compared to OE. I
"upgraded" to WLM only bc. access to hotmail wouldn't work any more.

Outlook Express (OE) NEVER had the feature to download just the headers
of messages on POP3 accounts.

It would be possible for a mail client to do that with POP3. And some
may. Due to similar names, people often confuse Outlook Express with
the Office Outlook program. Perhaps the Office Outlook program has that
feature. I don't know.

To make a suggestion to Microsoft
