I started downloading and installing Vista Service Pack 1 last night and here
it is, a little over 24 hours later and it's still not finished. It's at 94%.
I left it running all night last night and all day today with no other
programs running and no other activity (Being that I wasn't even here to use
the thing).

I'm running just the simple Vista Home Basic version and I have cable
internet. Is it normal for it to take this freaking long to download and
install and has anyone else has had this problem?

Thanks for any help you can give.

You mention you have Cable Internet, but you neglected to mention what
speed.

But there are many factors involved that can cause this download to
take so long (although, I must admit, 24+ Hours is a little abnormal):

- *Network Congestion* - Unlikely as this may be, the download site
from which you are getting the SP may be overloaded.
- *Slow line speed* - Your internet connection may just be slow. Try
re-connecting to see if it improves. a 385Kb ADSL line should allow
the download to complete in 4 to 5 hours.
- *Poor System Resources* - You said you're using Windows Vista
Basic. Perhaps your computer just cannot deal with the high speed
required for such a download?
