If it is SP2, it could take 20 hours logged on or more on a
dial-up to complete, give it time. If you do not have SP2
installed yet you can order the SP2 CD and it will come in
the mail in about a week and it is totally free (MS even
pays the postage)

| Windows Update has worked pretty well for me, except when
I let it go
| for awhile and have several updates to download. I have
dial-up so
| downloading is slow.
|
| I haven't been prompted for updates in awhile so I thought
I was
| up-to-date. However, yesterday I saw the little icon on my
taskbar. I
| pulled the cursor over it, and it said it was something
like 39%
| complete in downloads. So I let it run for 3 hours, after
which time
| it was something like 48% complete. My installation
history says the
| last installation was Aug. 20, so I must have started this
download
| sometime in September.
|
| I thought that when I connected to the internet, the
download started
| automatically. However, the download would be done by now
if that were
| the case. I've left my computer on all day and the Windows
Update icon
| has not appeared on my taskbar.
|
| My question is: can I cancel the current download and
start over
| again?
|
| Thanks.
