A friend of mine has windows XP Pro on his system however he has a dial up
connection. I have downloaded SP2 and placed it on a CD-ROM for him.

Is there an easy way to download all of the updates since SP2 and to install
these updates so they can be installed on his system from a CD-ROM/DVD?

Any assistance would be appreciated as he has been summarily unsuccessful in
downloading these large files.

Best regards, Bill

Hi Bill
Your friend would need to have his sytem interrogated by WU first to
determine which 50 or 60 updates he would require - that I think is just the
security/critical ones. In addition there are the non-critical ones as
well. As you did for him before, you can put them onto disk for him.
Suggest he disconnects from the net, disable antivirus, and install on a
clean system - same goes for SP2 - if you have been reading the threads here
over the last couple of months you will know why.
I believe that WGA/WGAN etc would also feature.
I am not too sure if he would have to go through the authentification
process again.
There are some MS sites with help for preparing a system prior to SP2
install/ install and after install etc - sorry cannot access them at present
to give the links - they are mentioned in a few threads here in the group
which have dealt with SP2.

Go here: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showforum=89 and download the
latest AutoPatcher for XP and then copy it to a CD. It has all the
updates/patches/fixes plus other stuff that will pretty much bring XP
up-to-date.

You can download them from the Catalog and save to be installed later.
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...en/default.asp

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what you want,
Click the "Go To Download Basket" link. Type in or browse to the location where you
want the updates saved to and then Click the "Download Now" button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.
