Downloaded File Location?

Can anyone tell me where Windows Update stores the files it downloads before
it installs them?

I have a corrupt download that is failing to install so want to trash the
files and let it grab them again.

Start/Run/type: %windir%\softwaredistribution
Now open the download folder
The updates that are available there are in file folders.
To view which one they relate to, open the folder, look for a folder called update.
Open that, and there should be a CAT (Security Catalog file) - this will advise you
which update for example KB896344.CAT
