Downloaded files called "corrupt" won't run

Greetings. Working on a fresh load of Vista Business (32) on a virgin HD.
Just getting past (hopefully) the dreaded Update Error issue. But almost
every file I download from the Internet, upon running, comes up with a Vista
error, "File is Corrupt". Sometimes a reboot will let it run, sometimes a
re-DL, one took 3x DL's.

I'm stumped. These are main drivers from HP, Intuit, iTunes, etc. I've never
encountered this frequency of DL corruption since the days of W95.

Any ideas?

This sounds like a broken install/uninstall debris problem where normal
install processes are blocked. Alternatively, you may need to review Repair
Vista Options. Details in these tutorials.

Thanks for the idea. I finally broke down last night and ran a 3rd party Reg
Cleaner (System Suite), which I'm not fond of doing until a load is at least
stable from install but...5 executions and 3000+ issues later and all my DL'd
files run fine. I'm thinking you were correct and I just took a different
route to clean up the broken parts.
