Downloading in the background

I disconnected from the I-net(56K modem) and belatedly realized that Win
Update was going on. The little yellow shield said 73% complete. So I
reconnected to let it finish off. Upon reconnection the little icon now
said 51% complete.

How did I lose the 22% that should have been cached or held somewhere?

I have no idea unless the segment being downloaded at the time was corrupted
and needed to be started again.

When I had dialup I used a program called "getright" yes I now it is not for
WUP,
but when using that program for other downloads and I was disconnected and
restarted the download it would automatically "dump" the last MB or 2 of the
download and start from their to prevent corruption, perhaps WUP does the
same thing for the same reason?
