Within the last week or so, I have not been able to download files from
internet sites. When I initiate a download, the open or save dialog window
appears. I then click on save and get the save as dialog window. I choose
which folder I want to save to and click on save. I get a flash of the
download progress window, but the file never shows up on my harddrive. How do
I fix this problem?

Try looking in your error/event logs

you do this by

Left Click on Start Menu
Right click on Computer and choose manage
Click on the event viewer
You now have loads of options to try and pin down what is happening
Expand the error tab
Look for things in the last 24 hours

Post what you find

Three instances of Service Control ManagerEventlog Provider and one instance
of HttpEvent. I haven't the slightest idea of what that tells me.

Hello ray,

Find or Specify the Download Directory Before and After Downloading a file
using the registry or using a program, here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
