My Nikon camera stores photos as JPEGs and movies as *.mov. It has a
removable SD memory card which can be read in the card reader of my PC. I
haven't installed the camera's software, because you're not really using
another hardware device; the SD card is treated like any other external
storage media like a floppy disk, CD or flash/thumb drive.
