Downloading IE 6 from a machine to install on another PC

I'm trying to help a friend re-install IE. He keeps getting an internal
error when he goes to certain sites, and when he tries to get his mail from
MSN and Yahoo.

I'd like to re-load his IE, but we can't even get that to work on his PC
through the download at Microsoft. Get the same Internal Error message (no
number associated with it).

Is there a way that I can download the update. I tried on my pc but it
tries to update my pc only, with no download. His operating system is
Windows 2000. Mine is XP.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I see that m$ is finally starting to wake up on this. many times someone is
trying to download a update/fix for another system that is "broken" and
cannot get the update/fix itself. i have had this problem many times
myself and sometimes had to use someone else's machine to get the patch
update/fix so that i could fix my machine.
