Until a couple of weeks ago, when I would connect the cable from my digital
camera or camcorder and powered them up, I could hear the audible indicator
to show that a device has been hooked up. Following this, I would get the
option of using a number of methods of downloading.

Now, I still get the audible, but nothing else pops up. I have gone into My
Computer to look for the device as a removable disk, but it does not exist.
When I go to the Safely Remove Hardware function, the cameras show up there.
I have gone into device manager and they show up and device manager says that
are working.

I have moved the mouse on the from another USB port to the port that I
usually connect the cameras to and it works. Also, I have taken the digital
camera and using the same cable, connected to my laptop without issue.

Any help out there?

Thanks.

I personally find the pop-up's annoying when trying to connect a device. Is
there any chance you clicked the box which states "Always do the action when
using this type of file"? Of course, I'm paraphrasing, but you get the idea

I have checked the auto load and it is still there. I am really confused
because the camera does not show up as a removable device in Explorer or My
Computer.

I have never used the software that came with the camera. I have always used
Adobe Photo Downloader. Even if this wouldn't work, I do not know why the
camera will not show up as a removable disk when the computer knows that a
device is connected to the USB port.
