This new Windows updates keep messing up my computer. Since the end of July
I have been experiencing problems.
First with my nVidia video card. Al of the sudden images on screen start
breaking up then the screen goes black. Then when I reboot computer on safe
mode I get a message saying: " Display Drivers failed to load or something
like that. I still get this problem once in a while.

Then, the volume and Network icons keep disappearing from task bar. When I
went to Notification Area they were grayed out and couldn't enable them.
Some how I manage to fix this problem reading a fix for this problem here.

Now the latest problem I have is downloading files.

Last night I tried to download the new Flash Player 10 and download got
stuck at 99%. This morning I tried to download pictures from Webshots and
they get stuck also at 99%.
Please help me solve these problems or tell me at least how to uninstall ALL
stupid windows updates since July, 2009.

I have a Toshiba Laptop bought in June 2007 model # P105-S9339
Windows Vista Ultimate SP2
Intel Core CPU T7200 @ 2.00 GHz
4.0 GB RAM
GeForce 7900 GS
Waiting for your replies. Thanks!
Lisa

Oh, I forgot to say that I just downloaded IE 8. Do you think this may be
causing the problem?
I also have McAfee anti virus. If you need any more info. just let me know
Thanks!

First thing that you do is get rid of the McAfee anti virus which can also cause all
these issues. Install something like Avast which is free and make sure you update
it.
Secondly go to your Event Viewer and post the all the errors as per verbatim that
shows up there

The video card maybe overheating. What game are you playing? Have you
updated the video drivers recently?

Schedule CHKDSK to run at boot up.

Open Explorer
Right-click on the drive you want to check
Select Properties
Select Tools tab
Click Check now button
Check box Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sector
Click Start

It will come back and say, "Windows can't check the disk while it's in use"

Click on Schedule disk check.
Reboot.

It may take a while depending on the size of your hard drive.
