Unfortunately, I have much the same problem. I followed your advice in
referring to
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=910339 and find:
1) A green icon next to the fix in in the Windows Update History.
2) A log file, e.g KB911567.log which contains "71.937: RebootNecessary =
0,WizardInput = 0 , DontReboot = 1, ForceRestart = 0" as the last line.
3) I'm unable to run the Malicious Software removal tool either through the
website "http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx" or
when downloaded from
"http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AD724AE0-E72D-4F54-9AB3-75B8EB148356&displaylang=en"
The mrt.log file has the following contents:
Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool v1.18, July 2006
Started On Thu Jul 13 01:43:27 2006
Return code: 0
Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool Finished On Thu Jul 13
01:44:09 2006
4) I tried installing the patch manually after downloading it but had no
luck in either "normal" or "safe" mode.
Help!!
