Dreaded Dell and Sigmatel Audio Drivers

Can anybody clue me into this problem of why I can't get my Sigmatel audio
drivers to reinstall on my Dell XPS400?
I went to Dell and got my audio drivers (Service tag 9L9JS91) and did a
update drivers in Device Manager.
The driver installs but comes back with a Code 39, files missing or corrupt.
My son calls this the machine from hell. He's right of course.
Here's the scoop on the Dell DXP051:
Intel 945P Rev 00 Chipset
Intel 8201GB (ICH&/R Rev00
IDT Sigmaltel STAC9220x5
Motherboard: 0FJ030
Anybody have a clue?

<<Click on Hardware <<<< Click on Device Manager <<< it will open << on the
Toolbar<<< Click View
<< open +'s you looking for PCI bus Open it + you looking for Audio Open it
+ you looking for SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio
Right Hand Click it<< pick Properties <<<< it will open in General <<<<
click on Driver>>.

Installation Instructions

Hard Drive Installation (via WinZip) with Setup.exe File for R114282.EXE

Download

1.Click Download Now, to download the file.
2.When the File Download window appears, click Save (Windows XP
users will click Save) this program to disk and click OK. The Save In:
window appears.
3.From the Save In: field, click the down arrow then click to
select Desktop and click Save. The file will download to your desktop.
4.If the Download Complete window appears, click Close. The file
icon appears on your desktop.

Install

1.Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled R114282.EXE.
2.The Self-Extracting window appears and prompts you to extract or
unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R114282. Write down this path so the executable
(I.e.
Setup.exe) file can be found later.
3.The Self-Extractor window appears.
4.Click OK.
5.After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor
window is still open, close it.
6.Click the Start button and then click Run.
7.Type C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R114282 in the Open textbox and then click OK.
8.Follow the on-screen installation instructions
