Since this is a video file in dreamscene, I would first check the Media
Player's ability to run those. I would suspect a damaged codec, or player
file.

My machine has started doing this too.

There's no codec problem.

Dreamscene starts paused every time I start Vista.
Right clicking the desktop and selecting "play dreamscene" plays it as
normal, no problem.

When Windows is restarted, it starts with Dreamscene paused again.
I'm not sure when this happened. A few days ago I think.

I've tried uninstalling dreamscene in the control panel, restarting the
computer, and then reinstalling it, but it made no difference, it still
starts up paused.

Again, it plays fine if I right click and select Play Dreamscene.
I've tried swapping to different files, including the standard Vista
dreamscenes. I've tried switching to a standard background image, and then
back to a dreamscene again. Nothing makes any difference, dreamscene starts
paused, and remains paused until I manually start it from the desktop.

Please advise,
Vin.

OK, I seem to have fixed this one again myself.

Somehow, in my power saving options, dreamscene was set to "power saving" I
changed to "high performance" and restarted the computer again, and
dreamscene played after logging in, as it's meant to, and as it always used
to.

Hope this helps the OP too.
