MU is layered on top of WU. The instruction from via is to go to WU and
click the custom button. That is, Windows Update, not Microsoft Update.
I haven't tried MU yet, so I don't know how easy it is to revert to WU,
which it seems like you'd have to do in order to follow their instruction.
MU / WU has free email support, maybe from Bangalore.
In Internet Explorer Help > Online Support > (look in the left panel for)
Microsoft Update > (look way down at the bottom for)
Contact a Support Professional by Email, Online, or Phone >
Select a country > Start E-mail Request
Let's say you don't want a fun time with all that - then new NIC card.
Windows can accommodate extra NICs. If you don't want more than one,
access BIOS at boot and *disable* Onboard LAN which should be listed
in Integrated peripherals. Wait until they're both there before doing this.
