Driver installation during application install

I was installing an application. A dialog box poped up saying the driver
wasn't signed or something. It did not say which driver or give any details.
There were two choices which amounted to allow or disallow. I thought about
it but in 5 or 10 seconds the dialog box disappeared and a progress box
showed up indicating progress installing a driver.
Does this seem as lame to you as to me? I mean why ask an important
question like that and not wait for the answer?
Any ideas how to deal with a situation like that?
Thanks
Charles
