Driver update for NVIDIA(R) nForce(TM) Audio Codec Interface

This update was made available via Windows Update for my PC. I do indeed have
an Nvidia motherboard with on-board audio (Asus A8N-SLI Premium).

However, the motherboard in question uses a Realtek on-board audio as part
of the Nvidia chipset. Installing this update broke functionality in that
SPDIF ceased to work. Thankfully, reinstalling the latest Realtek AC-97
drivers restored working functionality.

I'm unsure as to whether this is a hardware detection issue (i.e. whether
Windows Update should have tried to apply that driver) or a driver issue
(i.e. the Nvidia driver should work but doesn't).

Hi there,

Try rolling back on the driver, do a system restore or restore from the
backup you hopefully made.

Only update the drivers if your hardware is not working well or an
application needs the update to work.

If it ain't broke: do not try to" FIX" it.

Only take drivers for Microsoft Hardware from Windows Update, other drivers
should be obtained from the manufacturer, in this case Realtek
