Rock,
I've been searching thru this discussion list and have
seen several comments about "NEVER" download drivers from
MS. (guess I now understand why, but it would be nice if
someone would stop MS from doing these things to
everyone.)
Well, Oops, I did. Now my monitor goes to hibernate, (I
guess, the green light goes to amber) every time I try to
turn things back on. How do I fix the problem?
I download and installed NVIDIA display software update
released on October 6, 2003 12.2MB and also Intelnet work
software update released September 17, 2003.
I had the previous 2 days downloaded the 24 Critical
Updates that MS scanned my computer and said I needed.
I don't have DSL so it took some time.
I've just gotten my CPU back from being wiped and fixed.
I had been hit by that Blaster on Aug 11 2003 and never
had time and money to have it fixed until now.
Wish I had read these discussions before I tried to make
sure I'd downloaded and installed all that MS "says" I
need. How do you know what you really need and what to
stay away from? I'm not that computer techno literate and
have been pretty frustrated with trying to keep from
having problems.
I'm running Windows XP on a Gateway 500X (I purchased in
Jan 2002 I think).
Any guidance on what to do now to correct my error would
be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Mary
