drivers required

About a year ago i bought a digital camcorder which now turns out to be a
chinese copy. On the past 5 or 6 occasions when the memory card was full I
was able to download photos via USB connector. The device was recognised by
Windows XP as a "mass storage device". Recently the device was recognised as
a "Syntek digital camera" and I cannot download photos without the correct
driver. The only thing changed on my pc is the automatic windows updates, and
I would like to know if these can be deleted or patched to allow use of my
camera again. The camera is a (Canomatic) DV7000.

Reboot into Safe Mode and roll back the driver in question.
