i frequently video call a contact using WLM 8.1, but notice if she has music
on in the background, the audio becomes garbaled if she's not speaking or
there's no background noise. Does the program have some sort of 'automatic'
music detector/scrambler built in? i know MS has had to do what it can to
prevent copyright violations from happening with their products, but is this
a standard feature that was recently activated? it's annoying to have the
audio garbled by whatever this feature is, and it's not even anywhere near FM
broadcast quality, let alone CD quality. What gives?

I do not believe there is any sort of automatic music detector/scrambler
that will muffle out garbled noise. The audio microphone only has a certain
clarity range and noises outside that range will most likely sound garbled
and muddy.

Hi,

There's what Jennifer already mentioned but the audio feature tries it's best to block out
background sounds and music and decreases the volume when a person isn't speaking.

I don't believe the technology you're suggesting actually exists
