Do I need to
1. Make both the primary parttion active.
2. Will xp and vista boot fine
a) If botht the parttion active.
b) If Only 1 partition is active and XP is installed there.
3. Can both the OS read both the partiton.

Thanks all,
RSK

i think you want to know if you can set up your system to do dual boot with
XP/Vista; yes
first make room in your drive, resize your XP partition and give room for
Vista, but DO NOT format to NTFS we will let Vista do that. **defragment the
drive before you do this**
second begin install of Vista and choose Clean/Custom install, then tell it
to install to largest available space - the reason we did not format earlier
is because it made it easier to know where to put vista. we want the empty
space. Vista will format to NTFS.
thats all, now when Vista starts you will have a window to choose which OS
to boot, Vista or Previous Windows.

Thanks it works fine.
My scenario:
1. Installed XP on C: (Labelled it XP) and formatted anohther parttion to D:
(Labelled Vista) and marked as primary partition (Did not marked it primary)
And created and quick formatted it from inside XP.
2. Installed Vista during boot (Not from XP, it hanged so I had to terminate
it).
3. Labelling was important as you see the boot partition as C from both the
OS. XP says XP is C:\ and Vista says Vista labelled parttion is C:\

Thanks All.

I sort of did the same thing. I created another primary drive and then shut
down XP and restarted with vista DVD it asked where to install. I directed it
to new vista partition where it installed and now I can't find my XP? Any
suggestions please?????
I didn't format to ntfs cause it was already that. When computer starts, it
doesn't ask , but rather boots into Vista.
