Unfortunately, Yes you will harm the boot loader, you will delete it
altogether and replace it with the old boot.ini file from XP.
Best thing to do is repair XP then once everything is work in XP pop the
Vista DVD into your DVD-ROM, reboot and select the startup repair option.
