Dual Boot of Solaris 10u7/Vista

Currently running Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 w/ 2 Gb memory.

I'm planning to install Sun Solaris 10 upgrade 7 with ZFS root
filesystem in a dual-boot configuration. Sun Virtual Box is
not an option here, due to memory constraints. Current 160 Gb system
disk will soon be replaced with a 500 Gb disk from a
major OEM, however.

I ran a quick test install last night of 10u7 on an empty 20 Gb
partition of system disk. 10u7 installation was successful
but it destroyed the Vista installation. Had to restore Vista from
system backup made just before this attempt.

I searched Google this morning for a resolution, but got more that
10,000 hits on this. Seems everyone has their own intricate resolution.

So, does a real resolution exist for this problem?

I think Solaris wants it's own disk, so you may have to dedicate that
160GB disk to Solaris and use the 500GB disk for Vista. Boot the OS of
your choice.

This is a laptop with room for only one internal SATA disk drive.

If I follow that path, it means 160 Gb disk gets relegated to an
external enclosure on USB 2.0 bus. Quite the performance loss, that.

No, you can install both Windows and Solaris on a single disk.

Although not the OP's problem, what about multiple versions of Solaris
on a Sparc box? I've never been able to do that without separate disks.
