Hi

I have vista home premium installed as oem on my notebook but I also have a
full version (ie non -OEM) version of vista ultimate that i would like to
install on this machine.

I have hp dv2000 series but don't know if the drivers that I currently have
will automatically install on vista ultimate if I change the operating
system.

My questions are:

1. can I just install vista ultimate over vista home premium OEM and will
the drivers work ? If so how?

2. can I install vista ultimate on a separate partition and will this affect
the home premium setup? If so how?

3. if i try to install vista ultimate, will oem see this as an upgrade, and
not require me to reload all my software?

thanks

Doug

Hi Doug,

Q1) You want to dual boot right - not install right over the top. In which
case Vista will run but it will prob not run to its full potential (e.g.
limited display res etc). To resolve this you may have a driver disk
supplied with your laptop or you will have to download the drivers from HP
(http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...roduct=1817074)

2) You can install Vista on a second partition - this will not affect the
home premium setup (you will just have less disk space at your disposal)

3) No you need to use Vista anytim upgrade to upgrade to Ultimate from
premium

Hope this helps
Any questions - just ask

Kind Regards,

Since you have Vista Ultimate retail you have the option to upgrade
See more information here

It will not effect it, it will just add an entry in the boot sequence so you
can choose which OS to work with

You will need to go to the manufacturer of your computer or laptop and find
the extra drivers needed
if you don't have the cd's for the hardware..

for example sound card driver, or display adaptor driver , or chipset
driver

see answer to question 1. But this is not a dual boot of course you will
have 1 upgraded OS
