Hi all

Even though Duel core cpu is set in my bios and is listed under device
manager within Vista.
Yet when I check the performance manager, only one cpu is bening used.
i.e the graph in performance manager, only one cpu is shown.

Is there anywhere else in Vista I can check or a setting to change it?

My System is a Dell Dimesnion 9150 / XPS440
Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Intel cuel core, 3.2ghz
4gb ddram

Please reply to group or email
pmitche1(nospam)@bigpond.net.au
remove the (nospam)

TIA

Phil

On the performance page, select "One graph per CPU" on the View / CPU
History tab.
If you see two history graphs, then you're utilising both cpus even though
only one CPU usage graph is shown.

Hi mate and thanks for reply
I don't see two historyy graphs, only one and I cannot change it.
Vista Task Manager . Performance /
Under view cpu history, that option is greyed out and says one graph
per cpu
Could that mean Vista is not using both cpu's?

Just FYI -- I have a Core2 Duo. I checked my Windows Task Manager View/CPU
History/One Graph per CPU, and I do get two separate side-by-side graphs,
and the two traces show a different pattern, so I think I am seeing each of
the two CPUs. The caption for the graph display just says CPU Usage
History, and does not have a separate caption for each CPU. When I choose
View/CPU History/One Graph, all CPUs, there is just one long graph with one
trace, so I don't know which cpu is being traced.

Hi,
That is not what I get, I cannot choose between view one or two cpu's

Under system ( where the vista score is) what does your's say?

Mine says
Intel Pentium (R) D CPU 3.20GHz 3.19GHz

Yet under device manager it has.

Two Intel Pentium (R) D CPU 3.2GHz

This is nuts.

Intel own Processor ID program says I have 2 cores, yet windows
performance report says only 1
I reinstalled onto other HD my old XP Pro and sure enough dual cores
I've updated the BIOS, works great for Xp as I can turn on and off the
bios option to use both cores or not, but this doesn't effect Vsta at
all.

Well done MS
