Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer

Hi,
I have an HP Officejet 6110 which is using the Vista built in driver (there
is no driver from HP). I have the duplex unit attached but Vista refuses to
allow me to print duplex in Portrait with the pages back to back. Instead it
insists on printing "Flip up pages" i.e. the pages are head to toe so you
read the first page and flip it lengthwise instead of widthwise. There is a
setting "Flip Pages Up" which is supposed to control this but it has no
effect. I have seen other people with different HP printers but the same
problem (google). Apparently it does work correctly in landscape but I
haven't tried that.
I do try not to print things out often but when I do I use duplex so this is
painful.
Are there any plans to fix the driver or any workarounds (no manual duplex
is not a workaround by the way!)

Thanks in advance

Saving

Alan,

Since many of us seem to have the same problem (I have DJ5550), can you
maybe post the drivers as an interim solution to one of the file sharing
web sites (with a Beta disclaimer etc...) and post the link?

Thanks.

Oh and HP only gives me the gpd files I ask for from user requests. I never
got a list of affected models from HP.

This problem may be slightly different. I have an OfficeJet 7410.
Automatic duplexing does not work. The driver attempts to force me
into manual duplexing -- reinsert the printed page printed side up.

This will work fine if you have a one page document AND you are able to
insert it before the next page is pulled from the tray.

Thanks,
William Jackson

I, too, have HP printers (7410 and 7310 Officejet All-in-One models)
each of which has a two-sided (duplex) printing attachment. However
when printing using a new Dell notebook running Vista Home Premium,
cannot print AUTOMATICALLY in duplex mode (it is not an option on th
print menus). I can print on both sides of the paper by MANUALL
reinserting the paper. I was told by HP that "a patch is being worke
on by Microsoft", but cannot find any info about it. I'm thoroughl
disgusted. Can anyone provide any assitance

HP has to provide the updated driver, they wrote the drivers that are
included in Vista.

My hp officejet 6110xi also flips the page even though Flip Page is NOT
checked and the picture shows a spiral binder on the left of a page in
portait layout.
Good News:
In Windows Vista updates I found:
Hewlett-Packard - Other Hardware - officejet 6100 (DOT4USB) that was
released 1/9/2008.
Bad News:
I repeatedly get Failed update code 80070103. What does this code mean?
What should I do? When I Goggled this code, it brought me to Vistaheads
for the first time. Where is your search engine???

Make sure the duplexer has been enabled - Start, Printers, double-click on
the Officejet, Printer, Properties, Device Settings, Installable Options
and make sure the Duplex Unit (for 2-sided printing) is set to "Installed",
Apply, OK.

Once you do this you will probably find the back side is printed upside
down. In this case send me an email requesting a patch for the duplexer.

Bob

Thanks so much for sending the instructions for duplex printing usin
Vista. It worked!!! However, as you indicated, the back side is bein
printed upside down. Therefore, please e-mail me the patch for th
duplexer in order to correct it.

Thanks again
