Hi,
The identifier that WSUS uses to identify a computer is the data
in the registry value SusClientId under the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\WindowsUpdate
If you have deleted this registry value on a computer that already
have connected to the WSUS server, or you have re-imaged the
computer after it have connected to the WSUS server, you will end
up with duplicate computer entries.
You can just delete the entries that have the oldest reported date,
or use the CleanStaleComputers program to delete computer entries that
haven't contacted the WSUS server for x days (you decide what x is).
The CleanStaleComputers tool is in the "Windows Server Update
Services API Samples and Tools" available for download here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...s/default.mspx
And a fyi:
Please post WSUS related issues to the newsgroup dedicated to WSUS:
microsoft.public.windows.server.update_services
(the newsgroup PA Bear listed is for SUS and not WSUS)
WebNews link to the WSUS newsgroup:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...pdate_services
If the link above doesn't work, try this one:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...pdate_services
Or use a newsgroup reader (default Outlook Express) to access this new
group:
Clicking on this link should open this group in OE:
