Duplicate File Finder for Vista

Can anyone recommend a good duplicate file finder compatible with Vista?
There are a million out there, and I've checked out a few, but haven't found
one I feel good about. I'm not asking for freeware (unless it's well written
and thought out). I just need something that does its job well.

Thanks!

Anyone? Someone must use and have a preference for a dup file finder?

It depends on what you mean by duplicates and what you want to do with them
when you find them. Are you referring to files with the same name,
different versions of the same file, or files with contents that are
identical? Do you need to search across multiple folders? Do you want to
print lists of these identical files or do something else with them, such as
deleting or moving? What options do you need for examining these files? If
you delete or move, do you need a bulk tagging feature, or will you process
each file individually? These are the sorts of things that make one
utility preferred over another.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for responding. My usage (for deletion) would be as follows:

1) Mainly image files
2) Ability to accurately check filename, size & content (I guess CRC or byte
for byte?), as some files from different cameras have the same naming
convention (also there are multiple copies)
3) Search folders, partitions
4) a simple and efficient filtering method
5) I don't really have a need to print directories
6) An ability to have the program choose the oldest or newest files for
deletion (that might fall under the filtering function for some programs).
7) Good sorting options
8) The ability to assign comparative directories that will not be scanned
but will be 'compared to'.

Thanks again,
Armando

I'm very happy with DoubleKiller Pro by Jan Schlüter at
<http://www.bigbangenterprises.de/en/doublekillerpro/>; there's also a
free version.

I don't think it was written with Vista in mind, so I suspect it will
identify doubles from junctions and other links if you include them in
the search.

Thanks for the recommendation, Michael. I've downloaded it and will check it
out. Good point regarding the junctions and links.

There are a lot of programs for Vista to file removing. I use a program
to 'Itunes find duplicates'
(http://www.fileutilityblog.com/archives/248) which is called Clone
Remover. And I solved my problem with the duplicates. It works not only
with itunes. What do you think about it?
