Duplicated Contacts

I have duplicate contacts. If the person is on-line they appear as both on-
& off-line. If they are off-line there are two entries appearing off-line.
If I edit one it updates both; if I delete one it moves to the "non-instant
messenging contacts." So, how do I go about cleaning this up?

Greetings Rock,

It's the same contact. Beginning with Windows Live Messenger, Hotmail contacts show on the
contact list as well.

To remove these, open the main Messenger window, click the Contacts menu (or press Alt-C on
the keyboard if the menu is hidden), choose Filter contacts, and then choose Messenger
contacts only. Then it'll be the same as it has been in other versions.

Jonathan,
Thanks for the reply. I thought I had tried that before, but I went back
and double checked. The filter is set to Messenger Contacts only. I cycled
through Show all etc. and even signed out and back in. The problem remains.

The symptoms sound like what you describe but the “fix” doesn’t appear to
change the display.

Any other thoughts?

Rock
