Hi, using Vista 32 basic home......I open IE, after about 10-15 seconds
another IE opens and becomes the 'live' page. Oddly, the new page is
often associated with the 1st one..ie I go to lotto site, a new browser
opens at rip off site telling me I've won lotto. The 'duplicate' sites
are usually genuine, one I kept getting was travel agency who I
contacted and am sure they didn't know what was going on. The new sites
are ones I have never visited and so are not in my history.
Not tragic but bloody annoying.

It sounds like your computer is infected. A scan with either Malwarebytes'
Anti-malware (www.malwarebytes.org) or SuperAntiSpyware
(www.superantispyware.com) is probably in order. You don't need to purchase
either of those programs - the free versions will remove malware just fine.
