Hi Briana,

I assume you are referring to Widows Movie Maker.

I believe the tools-options-advanced is for all slides added to the
timeline. Try erasing your timeline (the row of pictures on the bottom),
then set the time in tools-options-advanced, then add the slide to the
timeline. That should work!

Hope that helps!

It's pretty lame how it works. Apparently you can't do it
retroactively, I tried, and no sale.

Begin a new project or remove those you want to change from the
timeline then select tools/options/picture duration. Now any picture
you drag to the timeline AFTER you've done this will have the length
you set it to. Just another reason to call Movie Maker a toy.

Can you help me with this issue? I have worked with movie maker on XP. Loved
it. Had to figure everything out, but once I did, made a wonderful home movie
for my family at Christmas. I moved up to Windows Vista. Movie Maker in Vista
is version 6.0 I believe. It pretty much works like the version on XP except
the effects and transitions speed up my movie. I have my pictures set for say
10 seconds and the transitions duration is for 5 seconds. (the most you can
use is 5 seconds) Once I put everything together and watch my "movie" the
darn pictures are not even up for 10 seconds. If I don't put any effects in,
I get pretty much get what I want. However, I like the effects along with the
transitions. Have a clue as to what could be going on? Also, Movie Maker
6.0 came with Vista, can I download Movie Maker 2.0 or will that cause a
conflict? (one more thing, in XP you could go in and change your duration
time, in Vista, you can't.)
Thanks for any help or advise.

Let me correct myself on something. In Windows XP when I said you could go
in and change your time but you could not in Vista, I did not say that right.
Once you start your movie in 6.0 on Vista, you can't go back and adjust the
time duration. You pretty much have to start over. In XP I could change the
duration speed and then click apply. I can't do that in movie maker 6.0
