Hi Alex
Have you tried disabling Spysweeper Antivirus and Antispyware temporarily?
If this does not work, you may even need to re-install Windows Live
Messenger 8.5, with these applications disabled.
I had an issue the other week with a similar antispyware product, blocking
parts of Windows Live Messenger during installation.
