I'm new so be patient with me. Further, I am very new to Vista. Lif
was easier with XP. I've recently got this machine loaded with Vist
and I have tried to burn some video to DVD to play in a standalon
connected to my TV. No matter what I do, the standalone DVD playe
reads bad disc. Now I can go burn the same videos on the same type o
discs on XP and there is no problem whatsoever. From what I understan
some people have this problem and some don't. Can anyone help

Not sure what DVD burning programs you are using and I am fairly new to
DVD/CD burning my self. Only done few Video DVDs primarily to see if I could,
mostly burn Data DVDs.
The ones I am familiar with; Roxio on my Vista, not sure off hand what is on
my 98SE , Sylvania DVDRW/VCR player hooked to main TV, etc. have a
finallizing step to prepare Video DVDs for playing in other machnes.

The program at some point should ask if you want the Video DVD prepared for
use on other machines.

Example:
A Video DVD copied from VCR tape made for my parent's 50 wedding annivesary
on Sylvania will only play on the Sylvania unless it is finalized for other
machines. SWame with copies made using Roxio on Vista and the program on the
98SE.

Hope this helps.
