DVD drive not recognized by Vista

I have a Toshiba P105-S6177 laptop running Vista. The DVD drive is a
Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-8505. Twice now I have had a glitch and Vista does not
recognize the drive. Last time I took it to Best Buy and they charged me $30
to fix it. They said there is a fix from Microsoft, but I can't find it.
Any help?

If you don't have the entries this file removes, running this will harm
nothing, it just won't change your problem. It may however, fix it if you
do.
